It's not just the characters and plot.

Movies have a lot more to say than we think. You know that feeling you get, when you walk out of the movie theater, after watching a beautiful, inspiring movie? That feeling in your stomach. It's like a mix of sadness, that the movie ended, and...I don't know. You feel wishful. Imagining what it would be like if your life was like that.
I got that feeling after watching 'The Avengers". I spent days wishing I had powers so that I could one day be part of the team. It's sad, I know.

But lets head back to movies: They all fall under a theme.

Lets list a few common themes we can find in movies -

Hate
Survival
Hope
Death
Good vs Evil
Friendship
Adventure
etc.

Have you ever noticed how there are a few themes many movies always come back to?
The biggest example would be the commercial, overused, cliche, 'LOVE'.
You see a movie about war, and there will always be that girl the main character left behind when he got shipped off to Vietnam for war (humanities reference).
My example for a movie having a common theme, would be Toy Story (1). I loved the whole 'jealous, trying-to-prove-I-am-better-than-him, friendship theme in the movie. And at the same time it also hinted on 'believing in yourself' as a moral of the story. These things kept me in love with this story and the movie.

So, what do these themes say about us?
Now, if we're going to stay on the topic of movies, then we know that they are all stories. Unless its a documentary, everything is sort of fake. It's all acting, though, isn't it?
The love, the friendship, the story?
Does that mean we, as humans, are fake?
No. Not in my opinion.
I strongly believe that we have themes in our lives. I mean, of course we do. Just think about, in different times of our lives, different themes settle. For example, say you just had a fight with your friends, the theme of your life at that moment would be 'Friendship Problems', but it is usually a theme if really does matter to you, and if really is important.

These different themes, are evidence of the difference in peoples lives. How we will never be the same because each and every one of us lead such unique and different lives.

Now, before this post gets any longer, let me show you an activity we did in English Class.

Here are three movies that left an impact on me. I have posted pictures of them, with the themes I think fit them the best.

Toy Story

Can't Buy Me Love (Patrick Dempsey..sigh..)

The Lion King

Thanks for reading, till the next post, remember to Live, Laugh and Love,
